Again this year we sailed the North Sea Regattta in Scheveningen June 1 - 4.
The North Sea Regatta is the main event of the year in The Netherlands and is visited by about 500 boats. There are a lot of foreign entries in the event.
We sailed sportboatclass during this weekend which had 28 entries.
We just fitted our boat with new sails, colours and logos.
Friday we had a good breeze of 22 knots and we sailed two races. Saturday and Sunday was postponed because it was blowing like H... on the North Sea and we were not even able to go out because the waves were coming straight in the harbour. On Monday there were more races scheduled and we were really looking forward to go racing again. The first race went quite well but after the second weather mark the genaker went fishing and it took us a long time to get it back in. When we finally got it back our race was over.
After the start of the second race a small MaxFun came across and caught our mast, ripping the brand new mainsail (only 4 hours of racing), halyard and a genakersheet. Once again racing was over for us.
So after 3 weekends of hard work preparing the boat as best as we could, we did not have a very successful weekend of racing at all.
By the end of the weekend we came to the conclusion that we had become sponsors of the local bar.  Sander Reuter
